01How much cooler does the deck stay?
Heat-reflective topcoats keep the surface 20-30°F cooler than standard concrete in direct sun. The difference between “walk on it barefoot” and “run for the pool”. Especially noticeable on dark colors that would otherwise be unwalkable.
02Is it slip-safe when wet?
Yes, we add a coarser grit additive to the topcoat for pool deck installs than we use elsewhere. The texture provides reliable grip even with wet feet, sunscreen, and pool chemicals on the surface.
03Will the chlorine eat it?
Not with the topcoat we spec. Pool deck systems use chemical-resistant urethane topcoats that handle chlorine, salt-water systems, and bromine without yellowing or breaking down. Standard for every pool deck we install.
04How long does it last in Texas sun?
8-10 years for residential decks with proper prep and our standard UV-stable spec. The topcoat takes the wear and gets recoated at year 5-8 for a fraction of the original cost. Generic pool deck systems fail in 2-4 years.
