Where It Works

Three Spaces Where Solid Beats Decorative

When the room is the show, the floor should support — not compete.

01

Showrooms & Retail

Clean, modern, distraction-free. The product or vehicle is the focus — the floor just supports it. Custom color-matching for brand-aligned spaces.

02

Gyms & Studios

Survives heavy weights, foot traffic, and constant wipe-downs. Light colors brighten up basement gyms; dark colors ground commercial spaces.

03

Garages & Workshops

For owners who want clean over decorative. A solid color reads as deliberate and modern, not busy. Hot-tire resistant when topcoated correctly.

What Dallas Says After the Cure

Unprompted, unedited. The floor speaks first — the owners speak second.

“The prep work was night and day versus the quote I got from a one-day installer. They diamond-ground the slab, chased every crack, and pulled moisture readings before they quoted the product. The floor looks incredible two years in — no chipping, no yellowing.”

“The crew walked every inch of the shop, talked through product options with me, and didn't try to up-sell to a more expensive system. They spec'd exactly what the space needed. Eighteen months of daily shop-floor use later, it still looks new.”

“Custom metallic pour for our basement bar. I've seen metallic floors that look muddy or busy; this one has depth and movement and every guest asks about it. Worth every dollar.”

“Schedule mattered for us because the warehouse can't sit idle. They hit the dates they quoted, worked around our shift change, and handed the floor back with a cure plan that didn't cost us a production day.”

OUR PROCESS

How We Work

01

Walk the Job

Free 20-30 min on-site visit. We read the slab (age, cracks, moisture, prior coatings), talk through finish options, and quote a firm price — not a range, not a ‘starting at’ bait.

02

Diamond Grind + Prep

Mechanical grinding to the correct CSP profile. Crack chasing and mechanical repair (not cosmetic filler). Moisture testing. Ambient conditions logged. This is where coating life is determined.

03

Prime + Base Coat

Primer matched to the slab’s porosity. Base coat rolled and back-rolled to spec thickness. Temperature and humidity re-verified before every pour.

04

Decorative Layer

Flake broadcast, metallic pigment swirl, quartz broadcast, or color coat depending on your system. This is the visible finish — applied with time-tested technique, not on-site improvisation.

Meet the Installer

Solid Color, Sharp Installation.

A solid color epoxy floor is the simplest system we install — which is exactly why most contractors do it badly. Without flakes or swirls to hide imperfections, every prep mistake shows.

Cody's decade of tabletop resin work conditioned him to see imperfections most installers miss: a roller line that'll show under raking light, a section back-rolled in a different direction, a topcoat applied at the wrong viscosity. On a flake or metallic floor, those mistakes hide. On a solid color, they're obvious from the door.

That's why our solid-color floors look like museum gallery floors instead of garage paint jobs. Same products as the budget installer down the street — just applied with the kind of attention that comes from doing this work obsessively for ten years.

Solid Color Epoxy FAQs

What Most People Ask

Serving Dallas, TX and surrounding areas. Call (972) 369-6302 for immediate help.

01What is solid color epoxy?

A single-color epoxy base coat sealed under a clear urethane topcoat. No flakes, no metallic pigments, no decorative aggregate — just one clean color. The cleanest and most-modern system we install.

02Can I pick any color?

Yes — we carry the standard manufacturer colors plus full custom-tint capability. We can color-match to your brand colors, your decor, or a specific paint chip. Custom tints add 1-2 days to the quote turnaround for the lab match.

03How durable is solid color epoxy?

A properly-prepped solid color epoxy floor with a urethane topcoat lasts 8-10 years in residential, 5-7 in commercial. Slightly shorter life than flake or quartz because there's no decorative layer to mask wear — high-traffic lanes show first.

04Is it slippery?

Out of the can it can be slick. We blend a fine grit additive into the topcoat for any space with foot traffic, water exposure, or kids/pets. Standard for residential garages where the family walks on the floor barefoot in summer.

05How long does the install take?

3 days for most residential spaces. Day 1: diamond grind, crack repair, moisture readings. Day 2: prime + base coat. Day 3: topcoat. Walk on it after 24 hours, drive on it after 5 days. Custom tint adds 1-2 days for lab match.

06What does solid color cost?

Solid color is the most-affordable system we install — typically 70-80% of comparable flake. The savings come from product (no decorative chip) and labor (one fewer broadcast step). Same prep standard, same warranty.

07Will it stay the same color over time?

Yes if it's spec'd with a UV-stable topcoat. Most pigments hold their color for 8+ years. Solid colors in direct-sun locations (south-facing garages, sun-rooms) get our UV-stable spec automatically — we don't make you ask.

08Do you warranty solid color floors?

Yes — written workmanship warranty on every install in addition to the manufacturer's product warranty. If the coating delaminates, cracks, or peels because of our work, we come back and make it right.

Why Sherwood's for Solid Color

Where Solid Color Goes Wrong

A solid color floor has nowhere to hide. Roller lines, back-roll mistakes, viscosity slips — all show. Here's how we avoid them.

Cross-Roll Technique

Every coat back-rolled in two directions to eliminate roller lines. Sounds basic. Most installers do it once because it takes longer.

Viscosity-Controlled Pour

Epoxy thickens as it cures. We work in batches small enough to maintain pourable viscosity from the first roll to the last — no thick spots, no thin spots.

UV-Stable Topcoat Default

Solid colors in sun-exposed spaces get a UV-stable urethane topcoat as the default spec. We don't make you ask — we ask you about sun exposure during the walk-through.

Fixed-Price & Warranted

Itemized quote upfront, written workmanship warranty, no mid-job up-charges. The number on day one is the number on the final invoice.

Free on-site walk — sample boards, moisture readings, fixed-price scope in writing. Call (972) 369-6302 or book online. Pair metallic with flake, quartz, or countertops on the same visit.
